Cybersecurity start-ups have seen a slowdown from investment firms.

Based on an article published by Fortune, private investors pumped $3.3 billion into 229 cybersecurity deals in 2015, according to data from CB Insights.  But the slowdown of funding started to build early last year and investments became extremely difficult to secure in the second half of 2016.   Investors are looking for unique solutions with a broad range of products and services.

Today, we’re proud to announce a strategic investment by Microsoft Ventures.

“illusive networks has the expertise to continue to evolve next-generation deception cybersecurity technology and protect enterprises against increasingly sophisticated advanced attacks,” said Mony Hassid, General Manager and Managing Director, Microsoft Ventures. “We’re pleased to support illusive networks as they work to make their deception technology the market standard.”

Microsoft Ventures joins our current investors New Enterprise Associates (NEA), one of the world’s largest and most active venture capital firms, Bessemer Venture Partners, Marker LLC, Citi Ventures, Cisco Investments, and Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors.

Microsoft Ventures recently invested in Team8 which further validates their focus on partnering with leaders in the deception technology space.

Mony stated in an interview with TechCrunch, “We have made a decision to invest in the deception market, and we believe there are more security opportunities, which is why we have invested in Team8 in addition to this.”

We’re off to another amazing year and we have so much planned over the coming months. illusive will be on the road for the next several weeks showcasing our award-winning deception technology and evolving network of integrations.   We hope to see you at one of these events ...
